Job Description

The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst / Tableau Developer (Apply) will be responsible for the internal reporting needs of Travelnet Solutions. The initial role will be focused on expanding our reporting suite operating on Tableau and providing the datasets and dashboards required for our end users.

The BI Analyst will work as a partner with internal stakeholders to deliver a top-of-the-line experience on reporting. This role will require some technical background in SQL, ETL Processes, and Visual Design. Additional technical background in other tools such as Git, Bash, or other programming languages is a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Timely and Satisfactory Deliverables

  • Provide datasets and dashboards in a timely manner while ensuring the quality of work.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and delineate between deadlines on projects.
  • Promote efficient and effective processes in delivering reports
  • Create guidelines and processes around standard practices.
  • Keep good documentation to ensure processes remain up to date and of top quality.
  • Set strict standards around deliverability and remain transparent with the client.
  • Establish design standards to implement consistent flow within the visual design, style, and other patterns.

Project Management

  • Utilize Product Management Tools to strategically plan out the workflow.
  • Communicate and present finished reports to a wide audience internally and externally.
  • Practice transparency to help in delivering the best agreed-upon end product at the agreed-upon date.

Facilitate active user engagement

  • Lead the company in developing reporting that can be used with a self-serve approach.
  • Promote learning sessions to teach outside teams how to best utilize the tools we can provide to them.
  • Actively monitor data usage with the satisfaction of the end user in mind.

  • Execute other company projects as necessary

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Tableau

  • Experience with Tableau Prep and building data flows (or other ETL Tools).
  • Experience with Tableau Desktop and creating sheets and dashboards.
  • Visual Design skills in Tableau are a major plus.

Data Modeling Experience

  • Experience with creating data schemas and data modeling
  • Experience with star schema data modeling

Experience with the following tools

  1. MySQL (or similar query language)
  2. Git
  3. Command Line Tools – Bash
  4. PHP (optional)
  5. Python (optional)
  6. Javascript (optional)
  7. R (optional)
  8. Machine Learning / Statistical Analysis (optional)

Other

  • Leadership skills and the ability to take the lead on important projects.
  • Some experience with modeling end-to-end user reporting experiences.
